The Ruffini corpuscles are bulb-shaped receptors located in the |epidermis|. The receptors are sheathed by connective tissue and contain interlaced networks of |nerve fibers|. It is believed that these receptors detect cold and heat and pressure. Ruffini's endings are also found in the joints, where they signal how far the joint has rotated.
